The kit is designed for the simultaneous genomic and plasmid DNA detection
of Chlamydia trachomatis by the Polymerase Chain Reaction method
(PCR). This detection is focused on two target sequences: (1) the multicopy
sequence of C. trachomatis cryptic plasmid providing maximum
detection sensitivity and (2) the 16S RNA gene specific for C. trachomatis
for optimum specificity of the detection. The design therefore provides for
both the high specificity as well as maximum sensitivity of laboratory diagnostics
of C. trachomatis cells in smear or scraping samples (urethal or
vaginal swabs, eye scrapings), urine or sperm samples. The kit is designed
for in vitro diagnostics and provides qualitative detection.
