The kit is designed for sensitive and quantitative diagnostics of the
Epstein-Barr virus infection. Detection is based on the amplification of a
single-copy gene for the nuclear EBNA1 by the Polymerase Chain Reaction
method (PCR). Detection kit sensitivity runs in single copies of the virus
genome per reaction. This provides for the laboratory diagnostics sensitivity
in ones to tens of copies of the virus genome in tissue samples (biopsy)
and in hundreds per ml in body fluid samples (liquor, serum, saliva) or
blood samples (10-50 copies of the virus genome for 2 x 10E5 leukocytes).
The kit is designed for in vitro diagnostics and provides for qualitative or
quantitative detections; it is therefore suitable for the identification of
active/latent infections and for monitoring of a therapy efficiency or disease
development.
